Charlie's Angels

Thank you for visiting Charlie's team page! And most of all, thank you for supporting our fundraiser and raising PWS awareness with us year after year!

Charlie was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome at just 3 weeks old, and he is now 11 years old! The years have flown and Charlie continues to amaze us with his progress, his determination and his acute problem solving skills. He also inspires us with his resilience and good humor through it all. During his short life, he has conquered many milestones, most recently he started counting, and is beginning to read a few words and type his name independently. He makes increasingly elaborate sentences with his iPad communication app. He can now ride his bike without training wheels, he can swim on his own, and he is even starting to ski and ice skate! During his short life, he has also undergone surgery multiple times, gone to countless hours of speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, ABA therapy and music therapy. And he endures a strict low carb diet mostly with a smile, one most children would not be happy with!

In the past year, Charlie also started on an experimental treatment of Oxytocin, one of the research projects supported by FPWR. We believe this has dramatically reduced his anxiety levels, in turn reducing his crippling OCD behaviors, and making his mind more available for learning and socializing. We are extremely thankful for this new development, and are committed to continue helping find additional and more effictive treatments, and eventually a cure for PWS.

And this is where you come in! We hope you will join us in donating, raising funds and raising awareness for PWS and FPWR so we can continue finding help for Charlie!! Help us reach our goal and join our team, join our walk and/or make a donation! We appreciate it all!

Funds raised will be used to advance PWS research through the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research. You can learn more about PWS and the research that is underway at http://www.fpwr.org/.
