2022 Deerfield, IL

Team Gillian

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since the first One Small Step Walk in Deerfield when Gillian was just 11 years old! Gillian has come so far and achieved so much in that time, but the challenges posed by Prader-Willi Syndrome are relentless. Many of the typical PWS characteristics -- such as food seeking, OCD and daytime sleepiness -- still jeopardize Gillian's ability to attend college, hold a job, and live on her own. And while participating in one of the many FPWR-sponsored trials has given our family great hope, we still don't have the treatment or cure that will allow Gillian to live independently and fulfill her dreams.

That's why we are again joining our amazing Chicagoland PWS community, as well as family and friends both near and far, for the One Small Step campaign. Our goal is to raise at least $10,021 (in honor of the 10th year of the walk and Gillian's 21st birthday) for critical research to help eliminate the challenges of PWS for Gillian and all those living with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Please join us and donate now!

And for those who live nearby, we would love for you to join us on June 11th at Maplewood Park in Deerfield (900 Clay Court) to celebrate the 10th Annual One Small Step Walk. Registration opens at 9 AM and the 2-mile family walk starts at 10 AM. There will be live music, raffle prizes and giveaways. You can learn more about PWS and the research that is underway at http://www.fpwr.org.
